Battle Point Park Stadium Lighting Presentation Scheduled for 11/18/21:  The Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District Board has scheduled a second presentation on the Battle Point Park stadium lighting proposal made by the Bainbridge Island Football Club. This meeting is set for November 18, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. The mission of the Battle Point Alliance is to ensure that Battle Point Park and the residential Battle Point neighborhood co-exist in harmony. We support a healthy balance of park uses that benefit the Bainbridge Island community including daytime passive and active recreational uses, and educational and cultural uses including those conducted by the Battle Point Astronomical Association.



The Battle Point Alliance (BPA) consists of Bainbridge Island residents who support a healthy balance of uses at Battle Point Park. The Alliance is opposed to the Bainbridge Island Football Club’s April 2021 proposal to the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District Board to install stadium lighting at Battle Point Park. Although we support daytime league sports, lighting for sports, and physical activity, we don’t support lighting at Battle Point Park because of the negative impacts to the neighborhood, to non-sports users of the park, and to the Battle Point Astronomical Association and Edwin E. Ritchie Observatory. The BPA believes night time lighting and sports are out of balance with the quiet rural residential neighborhood and passive recreational and educational uses of the Park
